Community & Educational Leadership

At Kleen Education Law, we do more than respond to disputes — we work to prevent them.

Effective legal counsel in education requires more than knowledge of the law; it requires a deep understanding of how schools function as communities.

Our work outside of litigation — in professional development, literacy initiatives, and community partnerships — informs how we advise, how we problem-solve, and how we defend our clients.  It allows us to see issues earlier, respond more effectively, and provide guidance that is grounded in the realities schools face every day.

Legal representation is one dimension of our work.  The insight we gain from direct engagement with schools and families is another.  Together, they strengthen the advice we give and the advocacy we provide.

Summer Education Leadership Forum

Each summer, Kleen Education Law hosts an Education Leadership Forum designed to bring together administrators, special education leaders, and educational professionals for focused professional development and collaborative discussion.

The Forum provides:

  • Updates on emerging legal and regulatory developments

  • Practical implementation strategies

  • Risk mitigation guidance

  • Structured dialogue around governance and institutional best practices

In addition to formal programming, the Forum creates space for educational leaders to engage with peers facing similar challenges. Through these conversations, participants exchange perspectives, develop practical strategies, and build professional connections that support more informed and effective decision-making across districts.

Our goal is not only to advise schools when disputes arise, but to equip educational leaders with the clarity, tools, and professional support to address challenges before they escalate.

Reading Opens Doors Day

Storytime In Classroom

Each year, in recognition of Read Across America, our firm closes its office for Reading Opens Doors Day — a firm-wide day of literacy-focused volunteer service.  Each year, our team will spend the day supporting reading initiatives in schools, hospitals, and community settings across New Jersey.

Reading Opens Doors Day reflects a principle central to our practice: access to reading is foundational to educational opportunity.  The IDEA, Section 504, and state education regulations are important — but literacy is where opportunity truly begins.

By dedicating time to literacy initiatives, we stay connected to the foundational issues that often underlie educational disputes — and bring that perspective into our legal strategy and advice.

Warm Winter Week

Warm Winter Week is a coordinated initiative focused on supporting students and families through school and community partnerships.  Working alongside local organizations, we help organize and distribute essential winter resources to families in need.

This work reflects a core understanding that informs our legal practice: students are best positioned to learn and succeed when their basic needs are met and their families are supported.  The challenges schools address are not purely legal or academic—they are often shaped by broader community realities.

By engaging directly in these efforts, we remain connected to the conditions that impact student access, behavior, attendance, and overall educational stability.  That perspective strengthens the guidance we provide to our clients and reinforces our commitment to supporting schools in a way that is both legally sound and practically grounded.
